THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP – TORONTO

The best event of the year just happened to be in the centre of the universe this season! It all started with a great players meeting with Sportsnet where they unveiled their plans to continue to take curling to a whole new level with more events next year, more television coverage and more prize money! All great things for curling and some added motivation for Team Koe and the rest of the elite curling world. Check out http://www.thegrandslamofcurling.com/ for more details!
As always, we came into the week-end pumped up to play and with high expectations of ourselves! We played quite well in the round robin portion of the event and put ourselves in position to get a bye to the semi final heading into our last round robin game vs Team Boettcher. We had a few chances to put the game away but our opponents had other plans in mind and hung around until the turning point in the 7th end when the opposing skip made a game saving hack weight hit and roll and managed to steal a point rather than us getting 3. Unfortunate for us for sure but we still had a chance coming home down one with the hammer. Personally, I had two good chances to set up our deuce but didn’t quite get either one in the perfect spot and Team Boettcher came up with some more clutch shots and we gave up a steal and lost the game. This loss sent us to the quarter finals against Team Epping the following day. Unfortunately for Team Koe, we didn’t have our A game and Team Epping did, so our season ended on a sour note. All in all, we had a great week at The Player’s Championship and showed signs once again of the potential of this foursome. We all left wanting more from ourselves and from each other and are hungrier than ever heading into the off season and the 2015-16 season.
Thanks to all of our amazing sponsors and fans for backing us in Toronto and the entire season. Only one team gets to win their final game of the year each season and unfortunately, that wasn’t us this season.
Bigger and better things to come.....
Brent
